“Bloom”
This gown was built around quiet strength. The silhouette follows the idea of growth happening under pressure, shaping itself in the dark before anyone sees it. The bodice carried hand-formed rosebuds made from bathroom tissue, and the full skirt hid the larger blooms underneath so the story only revealed itself when the model moved.
The double lace-up back and the layers of sculpted florals were all intentional. Every detail echoed resilience that doesn’t announce itself but still reshapes everything around it. The inspiration was deeply personal. It came from watching my mother move through her cancer journey with a strength that was humble, steady, and often unseen.
“Bloom” became a turning point. It won the 2024 competition and put my work on a national stage, but more importantly, it anchored the direction my design voice was already moving toward. This gown is the root of everything that has followed.
