Description

Students spend the afternoon working like real designers in the Maker Studio. They begin by creating custom painted fabric using textile paints, inks, and simple tools. These painted textiles become the statement panel of a modern asymmetrical shoulder tote inspired by contemporary fashion design.

Once the fabric is dry, students cut and construct their bag using solid cotton or denim, learning how surface design and structure come together in accessory design.

During drying time, each student designs a personal fashion label. Their label is heat pressed into the lining of the finished tote so they leave with a fully branded, wearable piece.

This workshop is best suited for students who are comfortable working independently with a sewing machine. Younger students are welcome if they have taken classes with me before.
