Summer Sewing Studio: Fashion Designer Week

Step inside a real fashion studio and spend the week creating your own original designs.

Fashion Designer Week is an immersive studio experience where students explore how clothing is truly designed and constructed. From the first sketch to the final stitch, students will learn how fashion pieces come to life while developing real sewing and design skills.

This week focuses on design thinking, pattern shaping, and garment construction. Students will sketch ideas, experiment with silhouettes, and learn how patterns translate into wearable garments.

Throughout the week students will:
• sketch fashion ideas and plan their designs
• learn the basics of pattern drafting and garment shaping
• select fabrics from the studio collection
• cut, construct, and sew their own clothing pieces
• learn professional sewing techniques used in fashion studios

Projects may include dresses, skirts, lounge shorts, or simple tops, depending on each student’s design direction and experience level.

This is not a class where everyone makes the same project. Students are encouraged to explore their own style while learning the foundations of fashion design in a supportive studio environment.

All fabrics and sewing materials are included. Students will choose from a curated selection of studio fabrics appropriate for garment projects.

As a special finale to the week, if students are excited to participate, we will wrap up our studio experience with a mini runway show for parents where students can showcase the designs they created during the week.

Full-day students will enjoy lunch and relaxed movement breaks between studio sessions so they can recharge before heading back into their designs.

This studio is perfect for creative kids and teens who love fashion, enjoy making things, or want to take their sewing skills to the next level.
